Introduction to Procedural Music
Hello again creative coders and enthusiasts!
Last time we had a great workshop on image manipulation with p5.js by Adam Driggers (aka @driggs). Thank you to everyone who joined us!
This month we’re happy to welcome Max de Kroon to the stage at A Lab for an introduction to procedural music.
Come join us Sunday, April 26th at 13:00h, at our usual spot at A-Lab .
From Mozart to modular synthesizers, we’ll explore the development of generative music - examining the tools and technologies that allowed this art form to emerge. The goal is to show how seemingly complex compositions are constructed from simple systems of sounds.
Since this is an introductory talk, no prior knowledge of music (or audio) is required. On the contrary, we’ll go over most of the foundational concepts that are true to all genres of music. In the end, we’ll look at one example of a procedural music system made in p5.js
As usual, the second part of the event is dedicated to show & tell. Anyone who wants to show their work on the big screen is more than welcome to do so.
It should be a fun, so we hope to see you there (or online on our Discord).
